How does one visually appreciate relative comparisons? In this infographic from howmuch.net the nominal GDP of most countries in the world is put into one chart. A few thoughts on the depiction:
The infographic does a very good job of drawing the pure relative size contrast across countries. With a quick glance, you pretty immediately get a sense of relative size in a way that is useful and accurate.
On the other hand, I think the secondary goal of displaying composition by sector is a little more difficult to glean from the chart. Do our everydata readers have any ideas of ways to simplify that part of the presentation?
